In August 2019 Patrick took out his dual purpose training licence, which in turn is a true accolade to over 25 years of experience and horsemanship within the Global Racing Industry.
Originally from Galway Ireland, a passionate horseman and a successful amateur jockey, Patrick worked as an Assistant for Luca Cumani and also spent valuable time as an Assistant with trainers Eddie Kenneally in the USA, Mike Doyle in Canada and Erwan Charpy in Dubai.
Patrick has learnt from some of the world’s leading racehorse trainers and played a key role in the development of top-class racehorses. Having more recently established his own reputable pre-training operation here in Newmarket. Over the past 6 years Patrick has educated the future champions of the turf on the initial stages of becoming a racehorse for some of the town’s prestigious stables, including Champion Trainer John Gosden.
St Gatien Stables, in the heart of Newmarket, boasts an illustrious history. It was built by trainer Bob Sherwood and named after his 1884 Derby winner. It went on to produce a huge array of winners for Sam Armstrong and his nephew Robert, a fortuitous streak that has continued through to this day.The Authorized Yard, where Patrick is based, has most recently been used by Charlie Fellowes, Ed Walker and Peter Chapple-Hyam, who as the name suggests, prepared 2007 Derby winner Authorized there. The yard is in a prime location with easy access to the world famous Warren Hill and Jockey Club Estates Training Grounds. Patrick has access to all of the excellent gallops and training facilities in Newmarket that are managed by Jockey Club Estates. With such a fantastic variety of surfaces and gradients, training regimes can be tailored to suit the individual needs of every horse at The Authorized Yard. Our on-site facilities in the yard include a horse walker, trotting ring, lunge ring and turnout. World-class vets and farriers are used by the stable.

Training fees are £54.37 + VAT per day inclusive of mandatory Jockey Club Estates Training Ground fees. This rate is exclusive of any additional expenses such as farrier fees, veterinary costs, racing and transport expenses, when incurred these fees will be included on your horse’s monthly invoice.
